I visited the gorgeous island of Kefalonia on a whim over the summer and looked for hotel accommodations at the last minute. I was excited when I stumbled on F Zeen Retreat and wondered if the photos of the property were too good to be true?!

How to Get There
F Zeen is located in Lourdata, a small village on Kefalonia island (the largest island in the Ionian Sea!). And, it’s only about a 20-25 minute drive from Kefalonia Airport.
Flying to Kefalonia
The island has its own international airport located near the capital, Argostoli. You can book direct flights to Kefalonia from major European cities, such as Athens, London, Rome, Munich, Budapest, and more. If you’re traveling from Athens, you can take a domestic flight from Athens International Airport (ATH) to Kefalonia International Airport which is a quick 1 hour flight!
Ferries to Kefalonia
Kefalonia is accessible by ferry from various ports in Greece. The main ferry ports serving Kefalonia include Kyllini on the Peloponnese peninsula and Patras on the mainland. Ferries also operate between Kefalonia and other Ionian Islands, such as Zakynthos, Ithaca, and Corfu. The ferry journey offers scenic views of the Ionian Sea and is a popular choice for those traveling with vehicles.
Renting a Car in Kefalonia
Once you arrive in Kefalonia, you can rent a car to explore the island at your own pace. Car rental services are available at the airport and in major towns and ports. I rented a car while visiting Kefalonia and found the driving around the island to be pretty straightward. Plus, F Zeen has hotel parking so you can come and go as you please!

Room categories start at a classic room with garden views — perfect for a solo traveler or couple — and go all the way up to a three bedroom villa which would be ideal for family or friends traveling together!
Many of the rooms have private balconies with breathtaking sea views, and some of the suites and villas even feature a private pool for the ultimate experience with privacy and seclusion. Plus, guests can expect both creature comforts and unique touches like a tastefully decorated bedroom, open plan design, ensuite walk-in shower, private garden, furnished balcony, the comfort of a queen size bed, well-appointed work desk, and spacious rooms (and spacious balconies!).
Our room was a classic retreat with a private terrace that overlooked the sea. Overall, we found it to be quite comfortable with all the amenities we needed, plus elegant decor.
Dining at F Zeen
F Zeen takes pride in its culinary offerings, showcasing the richness of Greek flavors and fresh, local ingredients.
Indulge in a gastronomic journey at the hotel’s restaurant, Gaia, where skilled chefs craft delectable dishes inspired by Mediterranean cuisine. Or, enjoy dining al fresco at Selini with views of the Ionian Sea, creating a perfect backdrop for a memorable meal.
We ate the hotel’s restaurants several times for breakfast, lunch, and dinner… And were never disappointed by the food!
Even at the beach club, all of the food from the beach bar was expertly prepared, the ingredients were incredibly fresh, and the dishes were a well-rounded reflection of traditional food from the island.
Plus, the service was wonderful and all the staff members were so friendly and happy to help!
Activities at F Zeen
F Zeen is a haven for those seeking balance and mindfulness and they have a range of activities like an outdoor gym, fitness classes, meditation classes, daily yoga lessons, a holistic spa and so much more.
Spa
Indulge in the ultimate relaxation at F Zeen’s wellness center. The spa offers a range of rejuvenating treatments, from soothing massages to holistic therapies. The serene ambiance and skilled therapists create an oasis of calm where guests can unwind and rejuvenate both body and mind.
Yoga & Pilates
Join daily pilates and yoga classes led by experienced instructors amidst lush gardens or by the infinity pool overlooking the sea. Whether you are a seasoned yogi or a beginner, the tranquil surroundings and expert guidance create an enriching experience.
Beach Club
While I absolutely loved the pools at F Zeen — who doesn’t love an infinity pool with panoramic views of the Ionian Sea? —the beach club is equally as charming.
The beach club has comfortable sun loungers and umbrellas on Lourdas Beach, a beautiful long stretch of sandy beach on the pristine shores of Kefalonia island. I didn’t spend much time in the sun loungers though as the water was so inviting! I’m a sucker for calm, turquoise waters and I spent most of the day floating and swimming in the sea, and listening to the sound of thewaves. The hotel also has stand-up paddle boards that guests can use, so my husband had a blast exploring the coastline by paddle board!
Outdoor Movie Theater
You’re probably thinking “Huh? A movie theater at a hotel?!” Yep, you read that right! F Zeen has it’s own little outdoor cinema, surrounded by lush greenery and palm trees, that plays different movies every evening during the summer. You can even order snacks and drinks while you watch!
While we were there, they played my all-time favorite movie, Mamma Mia. When in Rome Greece, right?!
Explore the Island
While F Zeen offers a secluded retreat, it’s also an ideal base for exploring the wonders of Kefalonia. The hotel can assist in organizing excursions to iconic landmarks, pristine beaches, and charming villages.
While we were there, we took a day trip to Assos village and Myrtos Beach — about a hour away. They were absolutely stunning with a lot of charm and I would definitely recommend visiting during your stay in Kefalonia!
My F Zeen Review
My stay at F Zeen hotel in Kefalonia far exceeded my expectations and the memorable experience is one of the highlights of my visit to the island.
Soaking in the beauty of the sea at the beach club, enjoying sunset from the infinity pool, indulging in delicious Greek dishes at the restaurant, or watching a movie from the outdoor cinema, I truly enjoyed every moment at F Zeen. I can’t recommend it enough. If you’re looking for a sanctuary of tranquility and absolutely relaxation, F Zeen Kefalonia is the ideal place to enjoy the slow life on your next getaway to the Greek Islands!
